Emily Frances Davis

Ms. Emily Frances "Fran" McCarthy Davis, age 73, a resident of Cherry Street in Columbia, passed away Monday at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services for Mrs. Davis will be conducted 6:00 PM Thursday at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rick Points and Sheriff Enoch George officiating.

The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.

Born in New York City, NY, Mrs. Davis was the daughter of the late Arthur and Emily McCarthy. She was a graduate of nursing school in New York. She worked in the critical care and ran the OR unit at Vanderbilt, an ER nurse at Maury Regional and the nurse for the Maury Co. Jail. She ran the Snack House, Columbia Restaurant, Ms. Fran's Diner and the 24 hr. Diner, where she ran ads for anyone that was hungry and did not have money was invited to come eat. She loved holidays so that she could cook for everyone. As a servant, Fran always put others first before herself and she was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by her daughters: Marty Davis of Summertown, Elizabeth Davis of Nashville, Emma Grace Davis of Columbia, Mandy Smith of Duck River, Melissa Mosley, Debbie Alley, Rhonda Finerty and Sarah Ankrom, all of Columbia; son: Leonard "Bubba" Lee of Columbia; grandchildren Harley Stewart, Dakota Smith, Jaz Smith, Matthew Seltzer, Timothy Dale, Jeffery Dale, Kyra Ankrom. In addition to raising many other children, she was a mother hen that loved her little chicks.
