Elizabeth Scott Burns was born February 5, 1947 in Maury County, the daughter of the late Wilson Scott and Effie Mai Slaughter Scott. She was the wife of the late J.B. Burns. Elizabeth had worked in the housekeeping department of Maury Regional Medical Center, for Publix Manufacturing and Weather Tamer. She was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church and had also attended Theta Baptist Church.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, David Nita Burns and Jackie James Tidwell, both of Columbia; grandchildren, Brittany Burns, Heather Burns, London Burns, Deason Burns, Hannah Burns, Jason Burns, and Jamie Whitlatch; two great-grandchildren, Haylea Grace Burns and Tristan Cole Whitlatch; three sisters, Jewell Pete Spencer, Pauline Davidson and Wanda Harold Fly; one brother, James Sandra Scott and one sister-in-law, Ruby Scott, all of Columbia. In addition to her husband and parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by a brother, Nelson Scott and a sister, Betty Lee Cates.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Ezell Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends after 4:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Scott, Tim Laws, Johnny Cates, Tyronne Roach, James Scott, Jake Brady, Clayton Brady and Scotty Faulkner.
