Elizabeth L. Smith

September 18, 1920 — October 12, 2009

Mrs. Elizabeth L. Smith, age 89, a resident of Fleming Street, passed away on Monday, October 12, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Pastor Andrew Abraham and Youth Pastor Michael Fulbright officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will recieve friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home

The Seattle, WA, native was born September 18, 1920 to the late Jesse Salisbury and Maude Bradshaw Salisbury. She was the wife of the late Lloyd Ludwig Smith who preceded her in death in February of 1981. Elizabeth attended Ripon College in Ripon, WI and taught special education. She had been a foster parent, community volunteer and was very active in the affairs of her church, currently Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her seven sons: Lloyd Gary Ann Smith of Johnson City, Bruce Charles Smith, M.D. of Clinton, KY, Mark Edward Kathy Smith of Lynchburg, Kim Randall Betty Smith of Columbia, Dale A. Smith of Columbia, Dean Scott Terry Smith of Columbia and Neal Robert Sherri Smith of Germantown; grandchildren: Tracy Carter, Tricia Amonette, Andy Smith, Lee Smith, Jason Smith, Luke Smith, Daniel Smith, Kathleen Smith and Clayton Smith; great-grandchildren: Sarah Carter, Tyler Smith, Jacob Amonette, Madelyn Amonette, Brian Smith and Austin Smith; and numerous foster children.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, Maury County Unit, 302 West 7th Street, Columbia, TN 38401 or the charity of your choice.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
