Elisha Moore, Jr.

December 12, 1924 — September 10, 2002

Mr. Elisha Moore, Jr. , 77, died Monday, September 9, 2002 at his residence on Porter Circle in Columbia.

Funeral services for Mr. Moore will be Wednesday evening September 11, 2002 at 7:30 P.M. at the First United Pentecostal Church with Pastor Telford Tharp officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday September 10, 2002 from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the church. Williams Columbia Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The Pearson, Georgia native was the son of the late Elisha D. and Sarah Summerlin Moore. He was the husband of Mildred Barnes Luna Moore of Columbia. He was retired plant superintendent of Trumbull Asphalt Company in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Columbia. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Pat John Childs and Theresa "Chegal" Edsel Smith both of Jacksonville, FL; a son, Alvin Malinda Luna of Columbia, TN; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Harrell of Glen St. Mary, FL and Marie Moore of Way Cross, GA; two brothers, C.D. Moore of Pearson, GA and Mack Corbitt of Fernadina Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by a son, Elisha Veryl Moore and two brothers, Joe Carroll Moore and Morris Corbitt.

Pallbearers will be John Tyler Luna, James David Cummings, William Eugene Cummings, Thomas Holt, Calvin Dodd, and John Ashworth. Honorary pallbearers will be the brothers of the First United Pentecostal Church.
