Elder Curtis Chambers

Elder Curtis Chambers, age 80, a resident of Todd Carter Road in Columbia, passed away Sunday, August 8 at his residence.

Born February 9, 1930 in Marshall County, he was the son of the late Guy and Roberta Davis Chambers and the husband of the late Mary Shelton Chambers. He was the grandson of the late Amos and Lizzie Davis. He retired from Parks Motors in the sales department in 1993. He did paint and body work for most of his life, did part time work for Rippey Auto Parts, enjoyed working in his yard and served as a minister throughout his life, with his favorite pastime studying the word of God. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the New Life Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ.

Mr. Chambers is survived by his children: Diane Jerry Flowers of Lynnville, Marie Wayne Jones of Hohenwald, Marilyn Les Albritton and Eddie Chambers, both of Columbia, Pam R.P. Jones of Murfreesboro and Linda Jim Pertle of Virginia; a brother: Bob Chambers of Washington; grandchildren: Stephanie Carl Langford, Brian Flowers, Brandon Marie Flowers, Chris Kelly Holcomb, Kayla Josh Long, Steven Hay, Michael Jones, John Brewer, Nicole G Willbanks, Tommy Tina Raymond, Calvin Allison Francis, Brittney Francis, Jennifer Chambers, Brian Curtis Chambers, Kimberley Chambers, Ira Chambers, Jessica Foster, Terry Chambers, Doug Sharlene Raymond, Linda Woody, Joseph Tauer and Erica Tauer; several great grandchildren; special friends: Mary Jane & Joe McNabb, Bro. & Sis. Richard Boone and Marsha & Billy Owens. He was preceded in death by a son: Curtis Chambers, Jr.; a daughter: Lois Ann Tauer; a brother: Guy Chambers, Jr.; sisters: Peggy Stroud and Ann Burge; three grandchildren: Linda Fay Raymond, Jennifer Glene and John Glene.

Funeral services for Mr. Chambers will be conducted Wednesday, August 11 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rick Points and Rev. Paul Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the US Army.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearer will be Jimmy Rowland, his Catfish Campus buddy.
