Elaine T. Gilliam

August 27, 1923 — March 7, 2008

Mrs. Elaine T. Gilliam, age 84, a resident of Columbia, passed away Friday, March 7, at Claiborne and Hughes Nursing Home in Franklin.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gilliam will be conducted Monday March 10, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Sally Hughes and Rev. Buddy Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Arlington Cemetery.

The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Jeff and Martha Truelove and wife of the late Carl C. Gilliam, Jr. She was a 1941 graduate of Columbia Central and a graduate of Columbia Business College and had worked for TN Knitting Mills and Industrial Products in Mt. Pleasant. She was a member and former president of the Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary and an elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her son: Carl C. Sara Gilliam III of Franklin; grandsons: Carl C. Gilliam IV and Joseph Foster Gilliam, both of Franklin; sister-in-law: Evelyn Truelove of Columbia; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Hardin Truelove, Rena Daniels, Jewel Derryberry and Gilly Truelove.

Pallbearers will be Carl C. Gilliam IV, Joseph Foster Gilliam, Jeff Truelove, Steve Truelove, Tom Benson, Conway William Brooks Jr., Dallas Hammet, Clint Fitzgerald and Dr. W.J. Julian. Honorary pallbearers will be Conway William Brooks III, Andrew Brooks, Mike Spence, John Hadley and Dan Daniel.
