Elaine Powers Johnson

Mrs. Elaine Powers Johnson, age 81, a resident of Darden Place in Columbia, passed away on Wednesday at Life Care Center.
Funeral services for Elaine will be conducted Friday Feb. 26th at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Curtis Dowdy officiating. Burial will follow in the Arlington Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends Thursday from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Born April 15, 1928 in Maury County, Elaine was the daughter of the late Clarence and Eloise Davis Powers. She was the widow of Roy A. Johnson. Elaine attended Hay Long High School in Mt. Pleasant and in her early years, she was a waitress. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #19 and a Gold Star Wife. Elaine was a lovely housewife, mother and grandmother. She loved her flowers, bowling and especially loved her family. She was a member of Highland Avenue Church of Christ.
Elaine is survived by a daughter: Rita James Odom of Mt. Pleasant; one brother: Dennis Rethea Powers of Decatur, AL and one sister: Myrna Beard of Columbia; six grandchildren, Tonya Joey Davis, Tracy Scott, Tim Kim Kennedy, Shane Odom, Trent Odom and Rhonda Jon Clark, fifteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Judy Paul Murphy; one brother, Kenneth Powers and one sister, Mildred Hartzog.
Pallbearers will be Zach Davis, Ben Davis, Trent Odom, David Kloke, Tim Kennedy and Joey Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Barnhart, Steven Beard, Sammy Beard, Chan Beard, Larry Hartzog, Mike Hartzog , Mary Tom Wells, Ruby Bradley, Sammie Naddy, Larry Allen, Wayne Lovell, Marcie Ibbotson and Ladies Auxiliary of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19.
