Elaine Mcclain Chirtel

January 26, 1927 — July 30, 2016

Elaine McClain Chirtel, a resident of Osprey, FL died on July 30, 2016. A native of Lewis County, TN, she also resided in Sarasota, FL, Fairfield, CT and Keowee Key, SC.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Chirtel; two daughters, Phyllis Shelton Irwin (Ernest III) and Priscilla Adams (Jeremy); four grandchildren, Ernest Irwin IV (Leslie), John Michael Irwin (Carman), Anthony Irwin and Jemma Adams; six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Others survivors include sisters, Patsy LeDoux and Zula McClain and brother, Jimmy McClain (Marie).

She is preceded in death by her parents, Felix Martin and Minnie Johnson McClain; brothers, Malcolm, Mack, and Forrest; Sister, Carmen.

Elaine was a graduate of Hay Long High School in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee and attended Columbia State Community College in Columbia, Tennessee. She was a member of St. Andrew Church of Christ (Sarasota) for many years.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with Rev. Mark King officiating. The family will visit with friends from noon until 2:00 PM before the service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in the McClain Family Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to her church (St. Andrews Church of Christ, 6908 Beneva Road, Sarasota, FL 34238) or Tidewell Hospice (5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34238).
