Edwina L. King

Edwina L. King was born May 5, 1941 in the Mynders Community of Maury County, the daughter of the late Edward and Virginia Cockrill McKissick. Edwina was the wife of the late William Ray King who preceded her in death in 2002. For over 40 years she was a unit secretary for Maury Regional Medical Center. Edwina loved being at home with her dogs, Buddy and Sam and especially enjoyed doing word search puzzles. Her daughters said that every time she went to Wal-Mart she had to buy a new puzzle book. Edwina was a devoted member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant.

Survivors include her two daughters, Mary Katherine David Powell of Mt. Pleasant and Susan Hicks of Summertown; four grandchildren, Sara Powell of Mt. Pleasant, Rusty Hicks and Heather Hicks, both of Summertown and Adam Powell of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Ruby Ronnie Davies of Florida and Ruth Hickman of Culleoka and two brothers, Coleman Kay McKissick of South Carolina and Buster Overton of Columbia along with several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. King passed away on Wednesday, June 15, at Maury Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Randy Kersey officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.

The family will visit with friends on Friday from 1:00 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Maury Regional Medical Center.
