Edwin Howe Halsted of Spring Hill, formerly of Columbia passed away at NHC Hillview on Friday, October 28. He was born on February 29, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio. He graduated from Oakwood High School, Simpson College, and Loyola University. He worked for GM in three plants, Fisher-Body, Electro-Motive, and Saturn Corporation in the financial area. He enjoyed being with his family, his dog, Lucy, and playing golf. He especially loved his golfing vacations at Myrtle Beach, S. Carolina.
He is survived by his wife, Sue, daughters, Kara (Brian) Hughes, of Glenview, IL, Kristen Halsted, and Kim Halsted of Kenosha, WI, four grandchildren, Katie, Anna, Margaret, and Owen, sisters, Margaret Permut (Philip) of Scottsdale, AZ, Ann Robinson (Richard) of Ft. Wayne, IN, an Julie Cummings of Austin, Tx.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 2:00 P.M. with the Reverend Joe Evans officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M.
Memorial may be made to First Presbyterian Church and Hospice Compassus of Columbia.
