Edward D. Motzny, (78) of Spring Hill, passed away peacefully on February 13 with loved ones by his side.
Ed was born March 23, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, to Edward and Isabella (Maciaszek) Motzny. He served in the US Air Force from 1959-62. Ed worked in the restaurant supply industry and later helped his late son, Trevor, with the family's bicycle store in Westchester, Illinois.
The king of "dad jokes," Ed's humor and light-hearted spirit brightened the lives of those he came in contact with—from close family members to the person bagging his groceries. He loved his family deeply and was so proud of even their smallest accomplishments. Ed enjoyed fishing, tying flies, reading, gardening, and antique cars.
Ed will be forever remembered by his wife of 53 years, Donna; son, Sean (Cindy) Motzny; daughter, Kathleen (Derek) Hunter; grandchildren, Gillian, Colin, Bennett and Celia; brother, Joel Motzny; and sister Melanie (Mark) Huempfner. He is preceded in death by his son, Trevor Motzny.
A memorial service will be held celebrating Ed's life on Monday, February 18 at Restoration Community Church, 5306 Main Street in Spring Hill, at 6 pm, with his son-in-law, Reverend Derek Hunter, officiating. Visitation with the family begins the same evening at 5 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Ed's wife, Donna, requests that donations be made in his honor to Restoration Community Church, the organization that had the greatest positive impact on Ed's life.
