Edward “Flotch” Wayne Bass, age 72, passed away on July 30, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Wayne was born on August 3, 1942 to the late Roy H. Bass and Frances Cheek Bass in Columbia, Tennessee. Wayne was a graduate of Central High School. He served in the United States Air Force and retired after twenty years of service to his country. After serving, he worked as a mail carrier in Columbia for eleven years. He married his best friend Linda Ann Phelps on June 9, 1962. Wayne was a wonderful husband, a great provider, and a devoted family man. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Wayne was a life member of Air Force Association, Veterans of Foreign War, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, and Columbia Elk Lodge #686. He was retired from the United States Air Force and the US Postal Service.
The family will visit with friends on Sunday, August 2, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee with Russ Adcox officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Air Force. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife Linda Ann Phelps Bass of Columbia; daughter Sandra Ann (Paul) Workman of Columbia; brothers David T. (Teresa) Bass and Dwight C. Bass both of Las Vegas; sisters Barbara A. Bass Haney of Washington, Utah, Margaret L. (Larry) Michel of Las Vegas, Mary F. Ervin of Columbia, and Carol S. Madison of Spring Hill; granddaughters Kayce Workman, Makenzie Mitchell, and Madison Mitchell; grandsons Kerry Workman and T.J. Cross; and special friend Dean (Jean) Baskett.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Frances Bass, daughter Tracy Lynn Bass Mitchell, and brother James Roy Bass.
Pallbearers will be Kerry Workman, T.J. Cross, Paul Workman, Virgil Haney, David Bass, and Dean Baskett.
Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Elks Lodge of Columbia, and “The Shop”.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to DAV or Elks Lodge 686 Columbia, Tennessee.
