Mr. Edward “Ed” George Etten, age 74, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Ed was the son of Edwin J. and Anna M. Hertel Etten, and was born on April 21, 1940 in Fremont Center, Illinois. He was a veteran of the United States Army and also a member of the American Legion Post 146 in Loretto, Tennessee. He drove a truck for 32 years having retired from Star Trucking. He owned Miss Connie’s Place in Mt. Pleasant and enjoyed Karaoke in Maury County and played music weekly for the line dancers at the Maury County Senior Center. On September 3, 2005 he married Connie Robertson Etten and they had a wonderful life together. His family remembers that Ed was there for everybody and anybody who needed him.
Ed is survived by his wife: Connie Etten of Columbia, Tennessee; children: Evelyn Etten, Victoria (John) Etten, Kevin (Sarah) Robertson, Leo (Loretta) Fiegel, Preston (Michelle) Fiegel, Carol (Tim) Steinmetz all of Wisconsin and Derrick (Brandy) Fiegel of Illinois; 20 grandchildren; siblings: Robert Etten, Joseph (Pat) Etten, Anna Mae Dale, Martha Bond and Judy (Jesse) Howell. He is preceded in death by his parents: Edwin and Anna Etten.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Randy Baker officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends from 2:00 pm until the time of the service. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Guthrie, Terry Cates, Andy Johnson, Preston Fiegel, Leo Fiegel, Derrick Fiegel.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his karaoke friends that he loved listening to and singing with.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Maury County Senior Center or the Maury County Cancer Center.
