Mr. Edward E. Attkisson, 81, resident of Mt. Pleasant, died Wednesday July 10, 2002.
Funeral services for Mr. Attkisson will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 12, in the chapel of Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with C.V. Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post #10.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the son of the late James Monroe Attkisson and Nancy Jane Chatman Attkisson and husband of the late Elizabeth Brumley Attkisson. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a retired kiln operator with Occidental, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Spencer Hill church of Christ.
Survivors include: two sisters, Hassie Clawson of Mt. Pleasant, and Dot Bob Thomason of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Eldon Attkisson of Columbia and Hazel Norene Attkisson of Mt. Pleasant and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Esterlene Benderman, Mary Poe, Minnie Pierce, Lucy Sharpe and Susie Robinson and three brothers, Joe Morris Attkisson, Jim Attkisson and Elbert E. Attkisson.
Active Pallbearers will be Bobby Brumley, Charles Oliver, Charles Grimes, Jimmy Dugger, James Ferguson and Mac Counts. Honorary pallbearers will be E. T. Nicholson, Tommy Nicholson, Larry Ballard, Charlie Craig, Frank Shaw and Charles Dale.
