Edward Brooks Cook, age 82, resident of Greenwood Street in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Thursday, October 7 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Born October June 15, 1928 in Linden, TN, he was the son of the late Edward and Rose Duncan Cook and the husband of Rebecca Peyton Cook. He retired as a supervisor from Parnell Construction and loved doing yard work. Mr. Brooks and his wife loved helping the elderly and especially walking Mrs. Murray Hines dog, Heidi. Mr. Cook was US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Locust Street Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister: Elva Cook McAnn of Old Hickory, TN and 3 nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother: Bobby Cook.
Funeral services for Mr. Cook were conducted Saturday, October 9:00 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Jim Walsh officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends from 4:30 to 8:30 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Hendley Edwards, Richard Hendrix, Luc Edwards, Spud Crotzer, Johnny Gibson and Randy Sprouse. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Thomas Dake, Dr. Doug Kennedy, the doctors and nurses of CCU at Maury Regional, members of Locust Street Church of Christ, Dennis & Tim Roundtree, Sondra Wright, Genette Clayton, Sara Uptain, Dot Spears, Christine Pullen and Beverly Edwards.
