Edgar Wilson Lovell

May 17, 1912 — December 26, 2003

Mr. Edgar Wilson Lovell, 91, a resident of Knud Drive in Columbia, died Friday, December 26, 2003 at NHC/Columbia Health Care.

Funeral services for Mr. Lovell will be conducted Sunday, December 28, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with John Vaughan and his grandson, Frank McMeen, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors being provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Giles County native was the son of the late Luther and Pearl Thurman Lovell. He was the husband of the late Oxylene Hobbs Lovell who died in 1988. He was retired from Union Carbide Corporation and member of the Graymere Church of Christ. He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.

He is survived by a daughter, Ava Nell Frank McMeen of the Cross Bridges Community; four grandchildren, Frank McMeen, Jr. of Jackson, TN, Mike Jacquelyn McMeen of Murfreesboro, TN, Robin Allen Cohen of Cleveland, TN, and Leslie Randy Dickerson of Murfreesboro, TN; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Lovell of Antioch, TN; three nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Travis Lovell who died in October of 2000; a sister, Mary Lou Oliver; a brother, Charlie Lovell.

Pallbearers will be Frank McMeen, Jr., Mike McMeen, Randy Dickerson, John McMeen, Josh Dickerson, Andrew Dickerson and Jay Cohen. Honorary pallbearers will be the retirees of Union Carbide Corporation, the elders and deacons of Graymere Church of Christ, Monroe Lovell, and Brian Huckaby.
