Eddie McKennon, Sr.

Eddie McKennon, Sr., lovingly known as "Hog," passed away peacefully in his home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, on January 21, 2025, surrounded by his cherished family. He was born on March 18, 1960, in Maury County, Tennessee, to the late Arthur McKennon and Patricia Cothran McKennon.

A true family man, Hog dedicated his life to those he loved. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Ruby McKennon, with whom he shared 34 wonderful years of marriage and 40 years of partnership. As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was the heart of his family, known affectionately as the “Best Papa” to his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hog was deeply rooted in his community and faith as a member of Mt. Pleasant Free Will Baptist Church. He spent his life working the land as a cattle farmer. Some of his favorite things were raising mules and working wagons and coon hunting with his son and best friend, “Bubba”. 

Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Ruby McKennon; his children, Patty (Brad) King, Chad (Darlene) Pugh, Kevin McKennon, Angel McKennon, and Eddie (Joanna) McKennon Jr. ; his grandchildren, Emma Chapman, Eli Chapman, Easton McKennon, Katie Pugh, Bella Pugh, Amelia Pugh, Kadence McKennon, Kristopher McKennon, Brooke Thompson, Peyton King, and Brantley King; his great-grandchildren, Anthony Thompson and Bentley Thompson; and his siblings: Jackie (Sharon) McKennon, Buddy (Sandra) McKennon, and Cathy (Carl)Lovett. Eddie is preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Theresa Smith, David McKennon, and nephew: J.J. McKennon. He was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend to many.

The family will honor Eddie’s life with a visitation on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. A service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Eddie will be laid to rest at the family cemetery in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee.

Serving as pallbearers will be Alan Lovett, Blake Lovett, Buddy McKennon Jr., David McKennon Jr., Cody McKennon, Terry Boshers, David Daily, and Nicholas Laws.
