Dr. Stephen Thomas Kennedy, I, age 52, a resident of Oak Trail Drive in Spring Hill, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2008, at Williamson Medical Center.
A Memorial celebration for Dr. Kennedy will be conducted Tuesday, June 10 at 11:00am at the Cool Springs Marriott. Inurnment will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Williams Funeral Home of Columbia will be in charge of the arrangements.
Born in Gross Point, Michigan, he was the son of George Thomas Kennedy of Columbia and the late Elizabeth Pauline Lambert Kennedy. He was the husband of Charlene Brock Kennedy, his childhood sweetheart, partner in ministry and wife for over 35 years.
Stephen selflessly dedicated his life to others and served as Pastor, mentor, and teacher for over 30 years. He founded and co-founded several ministries in MI, FL, and TN, that included community outreach programs such as food and clothing distribution to the less fortunate. He counseled countless people in finance, marriage, and crisis situations. Stephen was a gifted Bible scholar, earning his Ph.D in Theology just before his passing.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by two sons who he referred to as the "Sons of Thunder": Stephen Thomas Melissa Kennedy, II of Santa Fe and Kristian Daniel Angel Kennedy of Spring Hill; sister: Rev. Georgina Terry Bearden of Columbia; a brother: Ron Theresa Kennedy of Howell, MI.
He leaves behind a legacy of four beautiful grandchildren whom he cherished and adored beyond words: Madison Elizabeth, Faith Danielle, Jaeden Daniel, and Morgan Alexis. The Kennedy Family is proud and honored to have known and loved him, to have experienced first hand his passion for serving others, his zest for life and his unconditional love and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Dr. Kennedy's ministry, The CapStone Group, a 501c3 corporation, 1704 Oak Trail Drive, Columbia, TN 38401.
