Doyal “Buck” Buchanan, age 79, of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Life Care Center in Columbia, Tennessee.
The family will visit with friends on Friday, June 27 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Dawson officiating. Entombment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Doyal was born on July 3, 1934 to the late Add and Rebecca Nipper Buchanan in Pleasantview, Kentucky. Doyal was married to Frances Cagle on July 25, 1952. Doyal was a very precise man with attention to detail. He was often called a “stickler for detail.” Doyal first sang with a barbershop quartet with the Buchanan Family quartet and also sang with The Thoroughbreds and Derby Towners in Louisville, Kentucky. He played golf and loved to remodel homes with his detailed touch. Doyal was a very active church member at First Baptist Church Columbia and taught Sunday school, was a deacon, and sang in the adult choir. He loved his family and always tried to bring everyone together as a whole. He loved his family being together.
Doyal is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Frances Buchanan; daughter Nancy (Monte) Buchanan Holston; son Steven James (Gayla Annette) Buchanan; granddaughters Jacqueline (Scotti) Lehman, Kristen (Adam) Baker, Chelsey Annette Buchanan, and Savanna Jane Buchanan; grandsons Tony Johnson, Monte Holston Jr., Caleb Buchanan, and Jason Ray Barnett; great-grandchildren Zakkary Lehman, Felix Baker, and Shayla Barnett.
Doyal is preceded in death by his parents Add and Rebecca Buchanan and son Alan Dale Buchanan.
