Douglas Ray Russell

Douglas "Pete" Ray Russell, age 78, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

Pete was born May 30, 1941 in Mt. Pleasant, TN to the late Eugene Russell and Lema Henson Russell. Pete grew up in the Mt. Pleasant area where he left to serve in the United States Army. He returned to Maury County and worked with Union Carbide and Conalco for many years; he continued working and transitioned into real estate before finally retiring from AIG in Brentwood, Tennessee. He finally retired to Deer Creek in Perry County. Pete was a member of the Church of Christ and attended in Linden.

When Pete wasn't working he enjoyed putting his time in coaching and playing softball. He was the president of the league at one point in time. He loved to take time out to play a round of golf or getting on on the river fishing. Most of all spending time with his family particularly his children and grandchildren. Giving to them his wisdom and at times "Folklore or Tall-Tales." Pete had a wonderful sense of humor that he would frequently share with anyone around him. He is loved and will be dearly missed.

Pete is survived by his wife: Lorna Hatfield Russell; children: Roger (Karen) Russell, Tim (Sherry) Russell, Lisa (Keith) McNamara, Rob (Verna) Ratcliffe; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother: Bobby (Julie) "Chicken" Russell; and many cousins.

The family will visit with friends Saturday, May 23, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Evans and Rob Ratcliffe officiating.
