Douglas “Monk” Wayne Woodard, age 58 of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
Monk was born December 3, 1956 in Columbia to Wayne Crafton Woodard and Laverna “Snookie” Grooms Woodard. Doug was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. He was also an over the road truckdriver. He was a member of Porters Chapel United Methodist Church.
Doug is survived by his children, Amanda Kay (Brian) Farrell of Columbia, Wendy (Brian) Watson, and Michael Douglas (Amber) Dunavant both of Pulaski; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Crafton (Julie) Woodard and Randal (Diane) Woodard; special aunt, Shirley (John) Daniels; special cousins, Robby (Edith) Daniels and Johnny (Kari) Daniels. He is preceded in death by his sister, Lillian Faye Woodard.
Funeral Services will be conducted at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant Friday, December 5, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Robby Daniels and Wendell Spears officiating. The family will gather with friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour also at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
