Mr. Douglas K. Brown, age 76, resident of Maury and Marshall Counties for the past 34 years, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Marshall Medical Center in Lewisburg.

Born December 9, 1934 in Springfield, MA, son of the late George K. and Elizabeth Ocer Brown and the husband of the late Irene DeGray Brown. He was a master plumber, worked for the State of TN as an engineering specialist from 1984 to 2000 and was instrumental in bringing lawnmower racing to Lewisburg and Columbia. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Lewisburg and a Navy Seabee's veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his daughters: Elizabeth "Betsy" Brown, Debbie Brown and Jackie Brown, all of Columbia; special friends/puppies: Frankie and Cowie; special adopted daughter: Cathy White of Columbia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother: George Brown, Jr.; sister: Dorothy Gorman.

Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be held 5:00 PM Thursday, June 9, 2011 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rick Points officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday from 4:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. Military honors will be presented by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank & Faye Uzzell, Jack & Sally Townsend, Bobby White, Pete Larson and the nurses of NHC/Home Health of Lewisburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the PAWS of Maury County, 1233 Mapleash Ave., Columbia, TN 38401 or a charity of your choice.
