Douglas "Barry" Jones

Douglas “Barry” Jones, a long-term resident of Nashville, TN, passed away on January 25, 2022. Barry was born in Mt. Pleasant, TN on January 12, 1947. Barry earned a Bachelor of Science at the University of Tennessee at Martin and a Master in Education from Vanderbilt. His life’s passion was teaching, primarily at Franklin Road Academy and Brentwood Middle School, where he taught a variety of subjects, including math and science. Barry enjoyed traveling, and led several school trips to locations including Washington, D.C. and to Europe. He loved his dogs, he enjoyed bird watching, and played a mean game of gin rummy.

He is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Mildred, and his brother Reggie. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diana Bennett Jones, daughter Jennifer (Philip) Gorham, grandson Oliver Gorham, and brother Gary Jones.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022 from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm at Williams Funeral Home, Columbia, followed by a service officiated by Rev. Jeff Kane. The burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, TN.
