Douglas John Johnston

June 16, 1932 — November 15, 2002

Mr. Douglas John "Doug" Johnston, 70, a resident of West 14th Street, died Friday, November 15, 2002 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Graveside services for Mr. Johnston will be conducted Sunday, November 17, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Curtis Dowdy officiating. Williams Columbia Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The Wollong, Australia native was the son of the late Keith and Mavis O'Brian Johnston. He was the husband of Maye Brewer Johnston of Columbia. He was a retired accountant for the Federal Government and former security guard at Maury Regional Hospital. He was a member of the Catholic Church and served in the Australian Army during the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sisters, Diane Nevill Baker and Betty Clive Owen both of Australia; several nieces and nephews; a step daughter, Kathy Stanley Cantrell of Pulaski; a step son, Mark Sheila Morrow of Columbia; three step grandchildren, Chris Lindsey Gossage of Fairview, Melissa Jackson and Allisha Jackson both of Columbia.

Pallbearers will be nephews and other family members.
