Mrs. Dorothy 'Dot' Chatman Grooms, 68, resident of Southport Road in Mt. Pleasant, died Friday night in Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mrs. Grooms will be conducted Monday, Sept. 30, 2002 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with C.V. Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and Sunday from 4:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
Born in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late William and Ethel Norman Chatman and wife of C.V. Grooms. She was a retired employee with the Mt. Pleasant Manufacturing and a member of Halls Chapel Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Rita David Gray of Columbia; a son, Ricky Amanda Grooms of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Nolie Powell and Willie Mae McWilliams, both of Mt. Pleasant;
Three grandchildren, Zack Gray and Jordan Starr Gray, both of Columbia and Micca Grooms of Mt. Pleasant; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Opal Sharp; and four brothers, Oman, Les, John and Carl Chatman.
Active pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Past Employees of Mt. Pleasant Manufacturing, Dr. Cummins Couch, Dr. Worthman, Dr. Jamison, Dr. Woodley, Dr. Messenger, Staff of Columbia Onocology and members of Halls Chapel Church of Christ.
Memorials may be made to Halls Chapel Church of Christ or to a charity of choice.
