Dorothy Virginia Carpenter Thomason, age 87, passed away at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, on Monday, April 21, 2014.
Dorothy was born to the late Jimmie Hollis and Inez Priscilla Underwood Carpenter. She was married to the late Robert Isaiah Thomason for 66 years. Dorothy was a member of the Locust Street Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant. She was a faithful Christian and a wonderful, loving wife and mother. She was a special “Granny Dot” to her beloved grandchildren. Her special pleasure was to prepare the favorite dishes of all who came to visit her. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Dorothy is survived by her sons: Robert I. (Denise) Thomason, Jr., James R. (Sarah) Thomason, and Alan C. (Denise) Thomason; grandchildren: Juli (Mark) Shannon, Robert I. (Melissa) Thomason III, Anni (Ross) Knolton, Kerri (Rodney) Simpson, Lisa (Jason) Schrader, Randall (Lauren) Thomason, Hannah Thomason, Abigail Thomason and Bennett Thomason; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother: Eugene (Evelyn) Carpenter and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother: Thomas Carpenter; sisters: Myrtle Holder, Alma Pinkston, and Martha Cox; and granddaughter: Lindi Thomason.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 24, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home Mt. Pleasant. Services will be held Friday, April 25, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. also at Williams Funeral Home Mt. Pleasant with Jimmy Thomas and Troy Dugger officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be: Robert I Thomason III, Mark Shannon, Ross Knolton, Seth Knolton, Rodney Simpson, Drew Simpson, Randall Thomason, Jason Schrader and Bennett Thomason.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Allen and Faye McCanless, John and Linda Dugger, and members of the Locust Street Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant.
