Dorothy Ann Staggs, age 57 of Mt. Pleasant, a kind and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and aunt, passed away into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 25, 2015. She was surrounded by her loving family at her home.
Dorothy was born on October 20, 1957 to Raymond and Alice Sweeney Hickman in Columbia, Tennessee. She worked at CPS Factory in Franklin, Tennessee and it was there she met the love of her life. On June 18, 1990 she married William “Ray” Staggs and spent twenty-five loving years together. Dorothy was a founding member of the Faith Community Church in Mt. Pleasant. In her spare time she enjoyed the outdoors. Dorothy was an avid deer hunter and NASCAR fan. Family and friends will cherish the memory of a small lady, but it is her love and generosity that was always larger than herself.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Ray Staggs of Mt. Pleasant; her daughters Rebecca (Jeff) Owens of Pulaski and Dawn Lindsey of Mt. Pleasant; sons Brad (Jennifer) Pugh of Mt. Pleasant and Timmy Beard of Clarksville, Tennessee; her mother, Alice Hickman; one sister Ruby (Eddie) McKennon; one brother Paul Hickman; her beloved grandchildren Dylan, Brook, Autumn, LeighAnn, C.J., Jasmine, Paxton, and Ziva; aunts Barbara Bell and Maude Lee Cates; uncles Alvin (Vickie) Sweeney; special sisters Yvonne De Graaf, Linda McDonald, and Vickie Sweeney; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her father Raymond Hickman, Sr. and brothers Raymond Hickman, Jr. and James Hickman.
A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be conducted at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Frank Manning officiating. The family will visit with friends at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
