Mrs. Dorothy Springer Crigger, age 85, formerly of Morning Pointe Assisted Living and long time resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, November 11, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Dorothy was born January 5, 1926 in Red Bay, Alabama, the daughter of the late Dallas Keener and Elizabeth Kobeck Keener. She was a seamstress with Publix Manufacturing Company for many years and was a homemaker. Dorothy was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Dorothy was first married to the late Alex Springer and later married Gaston Crigger, who also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children; Mary Phil Skillern of Jacksonville, FL., and Steve Springer of Smyrna; grandsons; Jeff Lisa Skillern of Madison, AL., and Jason Skillern of Jacksonville, FL.; great-grandchildren: Jason Heather Skillern, Jr., of Long Beach, MS., Allie Skillern of Goodlettsville, Olivia Skillern, Sarah Skillern and Gabrielle Skillern, all of Madison, AL; one great-great-grandchild: Diem Skillern; three brothers, Charlie Frances Keener of Little Rock, AK., Dewey Pearl Keener of Lawrenceburg and Ethridge Carolyn Keener of Leoma; two sisters: Margaret Murrell of Lewisburg and Gaynell John, Jr. Davis, both of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her parents and husbands, Dorothy was preceded in death by brothers: Tony Keener, Bruce Keener and Jim Keener; sisters: Barbara Keener and Doris Voss.
Funeral services for Mrs. Crigger will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. in First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Gary Wedgewood officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends on Monday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
