Dorothy Alice McKinnon, known as “Dolly”, lovingly known to her grandchildren as “Nana”, passed away on June 29, 2022. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Edward and Dorothy Bello. Dorothy spent most of her years in Dearborn, Michigan, as a long-time valued executive at Awrey Bakeries. In her younger years, Dolly had a passion for music and definitely loved her Elvis! For years she was a professional ballroom dancer and until her last days loved dancing. In 2006, she made the move to Tennessee to be closer to her family, which she loved deeply.
Dorothy is survived by her only son Don McKinnon and his wife Michelle. Her next joys in life were her grandchildren: Brian (Cassie) McKinnon, Brittany (Jorge) CruzMcKinnon, Katelyn McKinnon, Katie McKeon, Michael (Amanda) Vaughn, and Kristin Oglesby. Her next favorite things in life were her great-grandchildren: Carrigan McKinnon, Piper Garrison, John Henry, Austyn Pool, and the newest addition, that she did get to hold and cuddle, Aria CruzMcKinnon. In her final hours, Dolly was thankfully surrounded by her loving family.
Then young women will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow. Jeremiah 31:13
