Dorothy Lois Kelley

Dorothy Lois Chapman Kelley was born June 16, 1934, in Columbia, the daughter of the late Earl Chapman and Linda Voss Chapman. She had owned and operated local "old and new" clothing shops and had worked as a nurse's aide for area nursing homes. Dorothy's favorite hobby was going to yard sales. Her son said that she was "a canine's best friend" and that she always had a dog to take care of.

Survivors include one son, Charles Richards of Columbia; one sister, Virgie Erwin of Columbia and an aunt, Maudie Lee Cates, also of Columbia. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by one son, Larry Matthews and a sister, Mildred Hay.

Dorothy passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Ms. Kelley will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Eddie Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
