Mrs. Dorothy Murphy Edwards, 88, a longtime resident of Hampshire Pike in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Life Care Center.
She was the widow of the late Lucius H. Edwards, Jr, whom she married on December 24, 1948.
The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Clarence Hayes Murphy and Kate King Murphy. She was a graduate of Hay Long High School and retired from Stauffer Chemical Company. Mrs. Edwards was a member of Locust Street church of Christ.
The family will celebrate her life Tuesday June 7th, with a service in the Arbors at Polk Memorial Gardens, beginning at 10 am. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 am in the Arbors. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include one son: Hendley (Beverly) Edwards of Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren: Lauren (Eric) Dial of Columbia and Luc H. Edwards IV of Mt. Pleasant and great grandchild Ava C. Dial, of Columbia. She was preceded in death by sisters Martha Hayes Murphy, Kathryn M. Edwards, Carolyn M. Douglas, Sara Ellen Murphy, and Anne M. Gibson.

Active pallbearers will be nephews: Johnny Edwards, David Edwards, Neil Gibson, Jerry Douglas, William Edwards, Harry Edwards, Jr., Paul Edwards, Danny Douglas, John Edwards and Eric Dial, Mike Flynt and Hal Brown.
Honorary Pallbearers: Elders, Preachers, and members of the Locust Street church of Christ, Wayne Hardison, Glen Kinnard, Danny Conner, George Roger Gilliam, Teresa Nichols, Brenda Lynn Allen, Christine Pullen and ASU caregivers of Life Care.
