Dorothy "Dot" Smith Hines

Dorothy Dot Smith Hines, age 82, resident of Columbia, TN passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 6:00 P.M. at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Vassar and Rev. Rush Harrison officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, January 18 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the church. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Polk Memorial Gardens.
A Maury County native, Dot was born to the late Sam Hugh Smith and Louise Holt Smith on February 10, 1928. She was a graduate of Hay Long High School in Mt. Pleasant and Columbia Business College. Dot married Ray Hines on November 8, 1952 and he preceded her in death in 1984.
She was first employed at Tennessee Farmers Cooperative in Lavergne, TN. She also was employed at First National Bank in Mt. Pleasant, TN and later with the U.S. Department of Agriculture ASCSC office where she retired.
She was an active member of Highland Park Baptist Church and later Pleasant Heights Baptist Church. Her talents include sewing, crafts, rose gardening, canning, cooking, and spending time at the Tennessee River with her family. She served as an Auxiliary member at Maury Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by her son: Mark Hines of Columbia; brothers and sisters: Catherine Frank McBride of Columbia, Billy Pat Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Wayne Smith of Panama City, FL, Shirley Smith of Mt. Pleasant, and Martha Randy Jackson of Columbia. She was preceded in death by one brother: J.L. "Chicken" Smith and one sister: Carolyn Smith Sisk.
Nieces and Nephews:Jeff Tammie Sisk, Columbia, Dr. Tony Luranne Smith, Columbia, Tim Tomi Smith, Columbia, Debbie Tim Vincent, Franklin, Scott Beth Jackson, Nashville, Amy Harold Hinson, Mt. Pleasant, Brian Jackson, Nashville, Ronnie Alice Hines, Columbia, Greg Hines, Columbia, Paula Randy Baxter, Hampshire, Vernon Linda Keith, St. Augustine, FL, Carolyn Spann, Murfreesboro and several great nieces and nephews.
