Mrs. Dorothy Sue Alderson Bordack, age 90, of Brentwood, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at NHC Place at Cool Springs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell M. Bordack on November 5, 1999, her parents, Cleve B. and Susie Wrenn Alderson and her brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Madge Dodson Alderson.
Dorothy was a native of Maury County, having grown up in the Water Valley and Santa Fe communities. She was a graduate of Santa Fe High School and Draughon’s College in Nashville. After enrolling in college, World War II began. In the spring of 1942, General Electric (G.E.) began hiring women to replace men who had been called into service. General Electric Company hired Dorothy as a temporary employee in 1942. She took leave from college and worked at G. E. for twenty-two years.
She and Wendell married on June 15, 1957 at Santa Fe Methodist Church. When Wendell was transferred to Atlanta with Massey-Ferguson Co. in 1964, she retired from G. E. After Wendell’s transfer to Atlanta, back to Nashville, to Baltimore, MD, to Des Moines, IA, he retired in July of 1983, and they returned to Brentwood, Tennessee.
Her family recalls that she greatly loved her husband, her family, playing bridge, butterflies, and her Cadillac.
Mrs. Bordack is survived by her nephews: Norris (Susan) Alderson of Franklin, TN and David H. (Elaine) Alderson of Water Valley, TN; great-nephews: Brian C. (Beth) Alderson and Anthony P. Alderson; great-niece: Mrs. Bethany A. (Greg) O’Shea; great great-nephew: Grant Michael Alderson; great great-nieces: Constance Taylor Alderson, Abigail Elizabeth O’Shea, Katherine Lucille O’Shea, and Kaitlin Alderson; first cousins: Howard Alderson, Mrs. Frances Alderson (Earl, Sr.) Moore, Mrs. Reba Alderson (Harold) Meador, Norman P. (Margaret) Harris, Mrs. Orene Harris (Louie) Pilkinton, Winston Wrenn, Charles Wrenn, Mrs. Rhoda Wrenn Flatt, and William Wrenn; other cousins: Mrs. Patricia Huffman Walker and Miss Leslie B. Walker.
The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association at P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312, or to a charity of your choice.
Services for Mrs. Bordack will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home with Rev. David Spencer of the Riverside Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia on Wednesday immediately prior to the service.
Brian C. Alderson, Norman Harris, J. Earl Moore, Sr., Anthony Alderson, Charles Wrenn, Winston Wrenn, William Wrenn and Harold Meador will serve as pallbearers.
