Doris June Sims, age 80, passed away on January 5, 2020, at her home in Mt Pleasant, Tennessee.
She was born on March 12, 1939 to the late Grady L. Baker and Mary Frances Loveless Baker in Lewis County, Tennessee. She was a member of Mt Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She worked in the cafeteria and custodian at Mt Pleasant Elementary School for 28 years and absolutely loved it. She enjoyed being the neighborhood watch on Joy Road, not many things went on without her knowing. She liked going to eat catfish at Doodads Restaurant or ordering pizza at Pizza Place and taking it home. More than anything, she loved having all her family together.
Doris is survived by her daughter: Vicky (Robby) Ingrum; special family members: Nancy (Mickey) Warren; grandchildren: Heather (Shane) Blocker and John Michael Irwin; great grandchildren: Cassidy Irwin, Hayden Blocker, Michael Ray Blocker and Jack Warren; brothers: Mack (Birdie) Baker, and Jim (Norma) Baker; special niece: Jimmie Kay Curtis of Michigan; and special friend: Judy Grimes. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband: Brown Wayne Sims; daughter: Angela “Angie” Sims; and brother: Lewis (Billie) Smith.
Services will be Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Williams Funeral Home, Mt Pleasant at 1:00 PM with Larry Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. Family will visit with friends on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be: Shane Blocker, John Michael Irwin, Mickey Warren, David “Bucket” Smith, David “Pop” Smith, Tony Baker, and Harold Hinson.
Honorary pallbearers are: Friends from The Mt Joy Community and Mt Pleasant Elementary School.
