Doris Faye Parr

December 18, 1937 — April 16, 2012

Doris Faye Bennett Parr went to be with Our Father on Monday, April 16th at Maury Regional Medical Center. She was born December 18, 1937 in Maury County, the daughter of the late Jim Bennett and Louella Kennedy Bennett. She retired in 1999 as an LPN with Maury Regional Medical Center. Doris and her husband, Talmadge Parr, would have celebrated 21 years of marriage on June 1st. She loved to shop, and pushing the stroller for her great granddaughters, Ella and Ava, brought her great joy. She was also an excellent seamstress who could mend any fabric or create almost any garment desired. She loved swimming, working in the garden, and watching the Home Shopping Network with her daughter and granddaughter, Donna and Brittney. However, her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family, whom she loved very much. For the past 13 years, Doris was a dedicated student of the Shepherd's Chapel and studied under Pastor Arnold Murray. Before her time with Shepherd's Chapel, she was a member with her husband Talmadge at Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors in addition to her husband include her children, Donna Michael Jones Curtis of Summertown and Frank Jones, Jr., of Mt. Pleasant; step-children, Steve Faye Parr of Weatherford, Okla., and Sally Parr of Pulaski; grandchildren, Brittney Jarit Cornelius of Summertown and Joshua Meredith Curtis of Nashville; step-grandson, Matt Dayton Parr of Ft. Wayne, Ind., great-granddaughters, Ella Reese Cornelius and Ava Kate Cornelius, both of Summertown; one brother, Jerry Sharon Bennett of Columbia and one sister, Gail Bill Skillian of Lawrenceburg. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for Doris will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Bob Dunnavant officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Curtis, Jarit Cornelius, Steve Parr, Matt Parr, Scott Skillian, Michael Cummings, and Jimmy Bennett.
