Doris Clark Pennington was born on Feb. 15, 1923 to the late Charles Arthur and Bessie Burch Clark. She was a beautiful girl, who at the young age of 14 married Jason A. Pennington on Jan 9, 1937. They were married for 74 wonderful years.
Doris was a homemaker who also was a representative of Avon for many years. Additionally, she worked for a time at Parks Belk. She was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Columbia and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Doris C. Pennington passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at her home, surrounded by her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Patsy Billy Rogers of Columbia; sister: Lois Virgil Hunter; grandchildren: Woody Givens, Cindy Gonzales, Allison Hanback, Jeffrey Hill, Mike Hill, Beth Taylor, Angie Waugh, John Benjamin Pennington, all of Columbia and Wendy Ritchie of Vidalia, GA.
Mrs. Pennington was preceded in death by 3 children: Nancy Sue Pennington, Blake Pennington and Sondra Pennington Hill.
A graveside inurnment will be held to celebrate the life of Mrs. Pennington at Polk Memorial Gardens, 6465 Trotwood Ave. in Columbia on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
