Donnie Gale Pryor

July 15, 1941 — August 28, 2013

Donnie Gale Pryor was born on July 15, 1941 to the late Henry Mark and Pearl Skinner Pryor in Maury County, Tennessee.

She was one of two daughters born to the couple and was a beautiful girl with a generous heart. When the family faced hard times Donnie joined the Women’s Army Corp and served honorably, all the while sending her monthly allotment home to the family. The Army also proved to be an adventure for her as she got to travel extensively in Europe while stationed in Germany and even swam in the Mediterranean Sea.

She retired from Johnson Control’s after working there for many years as a line operator, making injection molded auto parts.

While Donnie had no children, she loved her sister, Brenda’s children like they were her own, calling them her Pride and Joy. Also, once she moved back to her home town of Columbia a few years ago, she affectionately became adopted as “Aunt Donnie” by many of her nieces’ and nephew’s friends.

Donnie fought a courageous battle with cancer, telling her sister who she called “Baby” not to worry about her suffering, because she knew that her suffering was nothing compared to the suffering Jesus had gone through for her. She passed away peacefully, into heaven, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 28, 2013.

Ms. Pryor is survived by her sister: Brenda (Orville) Lindsey; nieces: Paula Gale Lindsey, Delana Lindsey, Tonya (Greg) Ashby; nephew: Dean (Karen) Lindsey; great nieces and nephews: Chaz (Chris) Belsky, Chelsea Lindsey, Brandon Ashby, Briley Ashby, Marybel Pearl Lindsey, Deacon Lindsey and Leo Lindsey and great-great niece: Abigail Belsky. She is preceded in death by her parents; niece: Deanna Michelle Lindsey; her beloved dog and companion: Abby and several aunts and uncles.
