Donald Slaughter

James Donald Slaughter, age 74 of Primm Springs, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at his residence.

Donald was born June 12, 1940 to Jim and Florence Baker Slaughter in Maury County, Tennessee. Donald was married to the love of his life Betty for 55 years, and together they shared a son, Ricky. Donald was a member at Jones Valley Church of Christ. He worked at Skyview Country Club for 37 years as a groundskeeper, which fell hand in hand with his love of golf. Donald played many United States courses along with his boss Buzz Maddox. Donald loved taking care of things and was known for excelling at whatever task he started.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Wilson Jenkins officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Burial will follow at Slaughter Cemetery in Primm Springs.

Pallbearers will be his nephews Jonathon Slaughter, Michael Hanes, Kevin Chumley, Jeremy Slaughter, Darrell Hanes, Tony Tidwell, Brad Slaughter, and Brandon Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be his many friends at Skyview Country Club, especially Buzz and Waymer, friends at Jones Valley Church of Christ, his nieces Marlina Ervin and Dana Woodard, Dr. John Simmons and his nurse Cindy, special friends, Lila Cothran, Betty Jane King, Jane Anne Slaughter, Delphine Roberts, and Katie Sloan.

Donald is survived by his wife, Betty Slaughter of Primm Springs; one son, Ricky Dale (Tabitha Scott) Slaughter of Primm Springs; his grandbaby, Haley Ann Slaughter; sisters, Rachel (Oneil) Hanes, Marie Chumley, and Helen Roberts; brothers, JW (Jane Anne) Slaughter and Clyde Wayne Slaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Florence Baker Slaughter; one brother-in-law, Edwin Chumley; and sister-in-law, Sherry Slaughter.
