Donald "Gene" Mcdaniel

Donald “Gene” McDaniel, age 73, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021, in Columbia, Tennessee. Gene was born October 28, 1948, to the late J.D. McDaniel and Thelma McDaniel, in Tennessee.

Many knew Gene as a very kind person. He was very neighborly, could strike up a conversation or lend a helping hand to anyone passing by. He enjoyed woodworking and puzzles, anything to keep challenging his mind. He even made a table for his wife. Gene adored his wife, family, and his furry sidekick, Rusty, and always appreciated. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Gene is survived by his wife: Darlene McDaniel; daughter: Caitlin and Ted Akin; sons: James and Keren Griffith, Chris Griffith, and Steven Griffith; grandchildren: Ellaina Akin, Destanie Griffith, Sarah Griffith, Gavin Lovitt, Dallas Griffith, and Denver Griffith.

The family will be receiving friends and family Saturday, November 13th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, with Pastor Jason Caddy officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. Post 19 American Legion is rendering military honors at Polk Memorial Gardens.
