Donald L. Laframboise Sr.

October 18, 1929 — November 12, 2012

Donald LaFramboise Sr., age 83, a resident of Columbia passed away November 12, 2012 at his home.

Donald was born October 18, 1929 in Detroit, MI to the late Ira and Angeline LaFramboise. He was a World War II Army veteran serving in Italy during the war. After the war Donald served as a police officer in two different precincts in Michigan. Donald was a very skilled woodworker. He was a professional tool and die maker with General Motors before retirement. Donald was also a businessman owning a gun shop and was a farmer.

Not only did he serve in many different capacities over his lifetime but his children remember him as a great counselor and a kind man who gave generously to a number of missions including Boys Town and many Veteran’s groups. He was a good husband and father who loved the Lord, reading the entire Bible through several times. He loved researching genealogy and watching hummingbirds and other wildlife.

Donald is survived by his wife Norma LaFramboise of Columbia, to whom he was happily married since May 26, 1951; Two Daughters: Jeannette “Jan” LaFramboise and Ann Marie (John) Jarrett; Four Sons: Donald (Deborah) LaFramboise, Ron (Pam) LaFramboise, Daniel LaFramboise and Rodney (Donna) LaFramboise; His Grandchildren: Adrienne (Patrick) Keeling, Michelle (Douglas) Grace, Sherie LaFramboise, Allison LaFramboise, Derek LaFramboise; Step- Grandchildren: Darrius Spangler, Jadah Spangler, Justin Gagneau; His Great Grand Children: Hannah and Gideon Grace; One Brother: Ira LaFramboise, Jr. ; Two Sisters-in-law: Lois Ivey and Loraine Steihl; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Donald was preceded in death by his former daughter-in-law, Kathy Elkins, his siblings: Susan LaFramboise, Irene Russell, Alfreida Jarrett, Elton LaFramboise and James LaFramboise.

The family will receive friends Thursday November 15, 2012 in the Williams Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant Chapel beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the evening. Services for Mr. LaFramboise will be held Friday, November 16th at 2:00 p.m. also in the Funeral Home. LT. Douglas Grace, Navy Chaplain will be officiating along with Pastor James Blair and Pastor Richard Bradford. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens and military honors will be provided by the American Legion Herbert Griffin Post 19.
