Dixie Chapman Gravette

Mrs. Dixie Chapman Gravette, 87, resident of Sunrise Drive in Columbia, passed away Tuesday at NHC/Columbia.
Mrs. Gravette was born August 22, 1923 in Maury County, daughter of the late John Robert and Mary Davis Chapman and the wife of the late Charles Gravette. She retired from the Avondale Knitting Mill in Talladega, AL and was a member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ. At an early age, she moved to Talladega and that's where she met the love of her life, Charles Gravette.
She is survived by her niece: Dixie Denise Nickie Benefield of Shepherdsville, KY; her nephew: Jeffery Dale Rhonda Fox of Columbia; grand nieces: Rebecca Davis Jones, Samantha Ti Howard, Lacy Jessie Welman, Shelly Bill Carmichael and Katie Morgan; grand nephews: Jeremiah Benefield. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Myrtle Fox, Estelene Odom, John Chapman, Edward Chapman, Nathan Chapman and Ernest Chapman.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gravette will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, April 15, 2011 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Andrew Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Fox, Nickie Benefield, Bobby Fox, Clifton Kelly, Bradley Dugger and Joe Meigs. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Jackson Heights Church of Christ.
