Mr. Jack Rountree, age 84, a resident of N. Elm Street in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Sunday, November 15, at Hidden Acres Nursing Home.
Funeral services for Mr. Rountree will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Randy Kersey, Kirk Brothers and Wendell Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19.
The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Born on January 1, 1925 in Centerville, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Grace Mays Rountree and the husband of Melba McClain Rountree, to whom he was married to for 59 years. He attended Columbia Business College and was a retired mail carrier from the US Postal Service. He had worked for Williams Funeral Home for many years, loved to collect antique glassware, old dolls, pens and coins. Mr. Rountree also preached in several Church?s of Christ in and around Maury County. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army and a 3 time recipient of the Bronze Star.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Dennis J. Rountree, Jr. and Timothy B. Rountree, both of Columbia; a sister: Mrs. Peggy James Davis of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Adrien Rountree; daughter-in-law: Lori Rountree; brothers: R.J. Rountree, L.E. Rountree and Larry Rountree; sister: Doreen Hickman
Pallbearers will be Larry Thompson, Don Gibson, Ron Kelley, Doug Kelley, Steve McEwen, Hal Brown, James Kittrell and Royce Nance. Honorary pallbearers will be Milton Perry and the members of N. Main Street Church of Christ.
