Debra Nance

January 27, 1957 — January 7, 1957

Mount Pleasant

Debra Jean Nance, age 66, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at her home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee surrounded by family. Debra was born January 27, 1957, in Mount Pleasant, TN to the late Henry Hodge and Ima Jean Taylor Hodge.

Debra Nance was a blessing to not only her family but the Mount Pleasant community. She was one of the good ones, she had kindness in her heart for everyone. She was a person that loved to share joy and always put others first. This is just who she was, if you knew Debra you knew she loved you. Many folks knew Debra from the Dari Gem where she cooked and served there for 25 years. She also worked for several years as a teacher for juvenile rehabilitation. She spent years investing in young people helping them get their footing in the world. She would receive thank you letters for years from kids that she had helped telling her how she had changed the course of their lives for the better. Above all though Debra loved her family. She loved and took care of her husband Randall 48 years, and together they raised a family. She adored her children and grandchildren always cooking for them making sure they were fed and made sure knew that they were loved. Debra loved to cook and travel and craft, one of her favorite places to go with her family was Gatlinburg. Debra didn’t like the interstate so Randall would drive the “Scenic” route and drive back roads all the way to the mountains. It was always about time together with her, as long as she was with family and friends that’s what was important. Debra had a big love in her heart and she blessed many people throughout her life. She is loved and will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

Debra is survived by her husband: Randall Nance; children: Jason Steve Nance, Misty Jean Nance, Nathan (Ashley) Runions; and Ashley Nance; grandchildren: Autumn Davis, Tray Davis, Neyland Nance, Carlee Nance, Skylar Gray, Jaxson Runions, Brantlee Whitehead, and Braxton Nance; great grandchildren: Oakley Johnson and Kyleigh Johnson; mother: Ima Jean Hodge; siblings: Chris Hodge and Trina (Ronnie) Marshall. Debra is preceded in death by her father: Henry Hodge and siblings Sherri Hodge, Danny Hodge, and Ricky Hodge.
