David Richard Peterson, I, age 75, of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at his residence.
David was born on July 2, 1944, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Kenneth and Doris Peterson. David married Carolyn Waltz on February 22, 1964, and they built a wonderful life and family together. They enjoyed their journey, bringing joy and encouragement to everyone. His life was a reflection of his great faith in Our Lord and Savior and exemplified every day to everyone he met. David was proud of his three children and the lives they created. He loved bragging about his five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
His children recall fondly how their father was an excellent example of a husband and father. David retired from General Motors after 42 years and greatly enjoyed traveling with Carolyn around the world and across the country, visiting friends and family.
David was always active in his church and loved to busy himself working on his classic cars. He also loved volunteering his many talents with any household projects that his many friends and family could come up with. All who knew him will greatly miss his friendly disposition and warm smile.
David is survived by his children: David (Noelle) Peterson II of Columbia, Tennessee; John Peterson of Howell, Michigan; and Kimberly (Randy) Krawczyk of Cave Creek, Arizona; grandchildren: Thomas Fletcher, Dakota Cartwright, Cole Peterson, Collin Krawczyk and Reilly Krawczyk; and great-granddaughter: Aleia Fletcher; sister: Carol White of Texas; and Kenneth (Evelyn) Peterson of Michigan and Nancy (Brian) Durkee of Michigan, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife: Carolyn Cecil Peterson and his parents: Kenneth and Doris Peterson.
A memorial service to celebrate David’s life will be held Saturday, July 27, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Columbia, Tennessee with Pastor Chuck Westra officiating. The family will visit with friends from 9:00 AM until time of service.
