David Lee Johnson

Mr. David Lee Johnson, 84, passed away Saturday November 26, 2005 at his residence on North Elm Street in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be conducted Monday, November 28, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at the Williams Funeral of Mt. Pleasant with Reverend Elmer Crosby and Phillip Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard. The family will visit with friends Sunday after 3:00 p.m. and Monday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

The Mt. Pleasant native was the son of the late, John Matt and Maude Trice Johnson and the husband of Betty Drane Johnson of Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Johnson served in the United States Navy during World War II and graduated with the class of 1940 at Hay Long High School. He was a retired Foreman of the Maintenance Department at Stauffer Chemical Company. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and an avid golfer. He was a deacon and member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David D. Johnson of Lewisburg, TN; grandchildren, James Lee Gidget Johnson of Mooresville, TN, Phillip Amy Johnson of Columbia, TN; Mary Beth Johnson of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Paul Wayne Johnson of Columbia, TN; great-grandchildren, C.J. Johnson and Matthew Wayne Johnson both of Mt. Pleasant, TN; a brother, Donald Mary Johnson and a sister, Lois Thurston both of Murfreesboro, TN ; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jamie Johnson and Howard Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Tim Roundtree, Walter Marlin, Wendall O?Neal, W. C. Johnson, R. F. Chapman and J. Howard Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons and past deacons of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant and members of the 64th Seabees.
