David Myron Demmers

December 15, 1934 — November 29, 2017

Dave was the last of 7 sons and 2 daughters born Dec.15, 1934 to Adrian and Neltje Demmers of West Sayville, N. Y. where he was raised and went to school before volunteering for the U.S. Navy.
He served his country four years during the Korean War and was honorably discharged before serving two more years in the reserves.

Dave worked in the Sayville school district as a custodial and boiler engineer for 15yrs. He married and had his first son Paul. Dave went on to maintain several different garden apts. during which time he had 2 more sons, Christopher and Brian by his second marriage.
Dave's favorite past times were fishing off the West Sayville docks, boating on the Great South Bay of the Long Island N. Y. and target shooting with his sons.

Dave won many awards for his expert marksmanship and was a member of the Sayville Rifle and Pistol Club, and also a member of the National Rifle Assoc.

Dave met his present wife Maria and continued to maintain apt buildings until his injury then moved to Tennessee in July of 1997 where he retired to enjoy camping with his wife and raising animals on their farm.
Dave and Maria have been residents of Waynesboro, Wayne County Tn. 20 years during which time he served his community running an animal rescue and helping some of the local residents.
Dave battled Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease until he passed away on November 29, 2017 in Savannah Healthcare and rehabilitation in Savannah Tn.

David is survived by his wife Maria Demmers of Waynesboro Tn., one older brother John Demmers of West Sayville, N.Y. his sons Paul A. Demmers of Wisconsin, Christopher Demmers of Bayport N.Y. , Brian Demmers of Bayport, N. Y.
his stepdaughter Daina of Harrisville N. Y. and 5 grandchildren, Kristen, Paul T. Demmers, Savannah, Cheyenne, and Samantha
