David Houston Barker, age 77, of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee passed away on August 23, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
David was born June 8, 1941, in Columbia, Tennessee to the late William and Frances Barker. He married his beloved wife and best friend, Betty, on June 28, 1993 after dating for 10 years. David was a brick mason and worked for Lovell’s Masonry and was a member of the Bricklayers Union. He retired from Union Carbide after 25 years of service. Throughout his life David was surrounded with love from his friends and family, especially his children and grandchildren. He loved traveling, farming, antiquing and flea markets. According to his family, he “bought junk…and sold antiques.”
David was survived by his wife, Betty; children, Rhonda Murphy, Tim “Paula” Barker; stepchildren, Terry Colvett and Janet Lynn (Jeff) Smith; grandchildren: Kelsey Gail Davis, Weston Colvett, Max Colvett, Trey Colvett, Heather and Hannah Smith; sister, Clara Mae Minnich and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Dickie Barker.
The family will visit with friends on Friday, August 24, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm. at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with Jeff Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Keith McCord, Billy Luttrell, Jim Vick, Steve Vick, Steven Minnich and Michael Minnich. Honorary pallbearers are former employees of Union Carbide.
