Daniel Nicholas Sengstacke IV of Columbia, Tennessee, age 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 28, 2017 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center. Born April 6, 1935 in Louisville, Ky., he was the son of Hilda Krech and Daniel N. Sengstacke III who were both born in Germany. He attended the University of Louisville, and was an employee of General Electric for 41 years working in Kentucky, Florida, Alabama, and Tennessee. In his Scouting years he earned the Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow awards and was an assistant scout master. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of First United Methodist church and active in the church choir and hand bells for over fifty years as long as he was able, and a past member of MRMC auxiliary.
He is survived by his wife Marion Sengstacke of nearly 60 years.
Also surviving are three children, David Martin (fiancé Rose Cork) Sengstacke of Decatur, Alabama, Daniel N. (Cathy) Sengstacke V Retired LTC US Army of Madison, Alabama and Debra Ann (Joe) Grooms of Columbia, Tn.; one sister Elsie Viergutz of Louisville, Kentucky, 10 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, two nephews, and one niece.
Celebration of his life will be on Thursday, August 31st at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church of Columbia. American Legion Post 19 will conduct military honors. The family will visit with friends from 9:30am in Atrium of the church until the Celebration of Life service at 11:00am. The family welcomes memorials to be made to First United Methodist Church, 222 West Seventh Street, Columbia, TN 38401.
