Daniel Ray Grooms, age 32, of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee passed away unexpectedly September 5, 2019.
Daniel was born April 25, 1987 in Columbia, TN to Kimberly Grooms Gray. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt Pleasant. He attended Mount Pleasant High School and from there continued on to Columbia State Community College where he earned his Associates Degree. Daniel stayed on with Columbia State after graduating, working in various capacities but most recently their Mail Courier. Daniel enjoyed his work; however, he was an entrepreneur, he found fulfillment in his online store Dixie Peddlers. When Daniel wasn’t working he was probably, listening to or making music, watching a race or a game, but most likely, spending his time with his ladies: his wife Maegan and daughter Dolly Rae Grooms, his “Tookie.” They were his entire world.
Little did Maegan know when watching Daniel play pee-wee basketball for her father’s team that someday they would share their lives. They were married June 10th of 2013 after dating since they were teens. Together they gave each other the most precious gift Dolly Rae, their daughter. Daniel was a devoted husband and an extraordinary father. He loved her enough for a lifetime A bond that Dolly will carry with her throughout the rest of her life.
If you knew Daniel then you would know that he was a big sports fan and a jokester. He always enjoyed NASCAR races, and preferred when Dale Earnhardt was leading. You could find him excitedly cheering on the Commodores on Saturdays and the Dallas Cowboys on Sundays. You may have found him listening to his favorite band Metallica likely too loud, or jamming himself on the drums. He wasn’t one of limited interests. He loved to go antiquing not regular antiquing, Daniel would seek out the faded paint, if any, about to fall down, middle-of-nowhere antique shops, likely trying his best to get his wife and daughter to laugh along the way. Being a jokester, Daniel, was always quick with his wit trying to make others smile. Not only did he love antiquing with his wife he so enjoyed to travel with her. To take her places that she had never been and create special memories together.
Daniel is gone to soon. However, in his short time he has given so much to so many people, with just his kind and loving spirit. He is a wonderful Husband, Father, Son, Friend, Co-worker, and Metallica enthusiast, who will be dearly missed.
Daniel is survived by his wife: Maegan Grooms; daughter Dolly Rae Grooms; mother: Kimberly (Gary) Gray; grandparents: William (Laticia) Grooms; uncle: Burgess (Joellen) Grooms; sister: Megan Eastep; sister-in-law: Carly (Jimmy) Owens; niece: Ava Kate Owens; nephew: Barret James Owens; cousins: Heather Hill, Chance Grooms, and Dylan Grooms.
