Dan “Coach” White, age 66 of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Dan was born February 15, 1948 to Evelyn Blackwell McClain and the late Hardin White in West Point, Tennessee. He was also a devoted husband of 31 years to the late Brandi White. Dan served our country honorably during the Vietnam Era with the United States Army. He was a self employed contractor working with electronics. Dan was a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church.
Dan was a kind man loved by many. He was full of life, stories, and laughter. He never met a stranger, and to know him was to love him. He didn’t just coach his players on the diamond, but he was involved in every aspect of their lives.
The family will visit with friends Friday, May 16, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church. A celebration of his life will be conducted Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Vassar officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by The American Legion Herbert Griffin Post 19.
Survivors include his mother, Evelyn Blackwell McClain; two daughters, Andrea (Patrick) Carr of Columbia and Amy Bradbury of Texas; one son, Drew (Faith) White of Columbia; six granddaughters, Erin, Morgan, Madison, Alexandria, Savannah and McKenzie; one grandson, Cole; two brothers, Roger White and Jeff White. He is preceded in death by his wife, Brandi White; father, Hardin White; and his brother, Ronnie White.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the American Legion Herbert Griffin Post 19, Dennis Turner, Darryl Wilkenson, Patrick Carr, Bo McCandless, Columbia American Little League, and Columbia Babe Ruth.
